In december 1963, Hockney went to NYC and became friend with Andy Warhol.
In January 1964, he moved to Los Angeles: his first impression of the city was “to see blue swimming pools all over” and he fell in love with sunny and laid back southern California.
In this Post, David shares his excitement about Los Angeles and his friend Warhol, suggests that he should paint what he likes.
Between 1964 and 1971 he made numerous paintings of swimming pools which became his most famous paintings..
