Andy Warhol in POST series by Laurence de Valmy

#storybehindtheart

1962 was a very important year for Andy Warhol. On an artistic level, he started to use silk screens and when Marilyn Monroe died in August, he created a series based on her portrait.

As for his career, Eleanor Ward, founder of the Stable Gallery, that gave many American artists their starts, offered him his first solo show in NYC  which took place November 6 - 24.

On this POST, Andy shares about his Single Marilyns created in 12 colors also known as the Marilyn Flavors (Cherry, Mint, Lemon, Peach, Grape, Lavender, Liquorice...).

Eleanor Ward referred to him as Andy Candy and after the show, Andy gave her White Marilyn. He gave Turquoise Marilyn to Jasper Johns whom he admired.
