In the 1980s, Hockney created photo collages using Polaroids, which he called "joiners”.

Shooting the same scene with different angles, he then assembled a composite image with the goal to discuss the way human vision works just like Cubism did. He mentioned about them that it was his attempt to “draw with a camera”.

On this post, he shares a detail of Sun on the Pool Los Angeles on the day of the opening of an exhibition in Chicago where he will meet Charlie Scheips, who would later became his assistant and friend. Andy Warhol adds a comment inspired from one of his quotes about Hockney.
